My new love

I have recently discovered a love for knitting and sewing. Having just made my first official softie sale, I've been reflecting on my new found hobby...

I never imagined knitting would be something I would learn and enjoy. When I was 17, I asked my Mum to teach me how to knit with the idea of making myself a scarf. I soon became frustrated with dropping stitches and put my knitting aside. My boyfriend (now husband) decided to surprise me by getting his Aunty to teach him how to knit. He quickly whipped me up a beautiful blue and white scarf - much to my surprise!!! (this was the first time I discovered Mitch's ability to rapidly acquire new talents!).

Years later, I still treasure this precious gift and love any chance to wear it - here the scarf came in handy on a trip to chilly Tasmania last winter.

After a lengthy break, I picked up those knitting needles again... It began when my husband was overseas for work last year and to distract myself from missing him, my Mum taught me how to knit again. This time I was a little more successful, and before long I had knitted my very first scarf.

The knitting craze soon hit my family - my Mum, sisters and even niece & nephews were all knitting again!

After making many more scarves, I soon got bored and decided to try my luck at knitting children's toys... and so la petite lulu softies began...

Meet Bramble & Willowfly, my first sale - I hope they bring their new owner much joy :-)

Dreaming of Holland

It has been a week of big decisions, and we are now rapidly preparing to move to beautiful Holland for the next two years.

This is a fantastic opportunity for us both and I have to say, I'm VERY excited! To live in the Netherlands, learn the language, meet my relatives and experience the Dutch way of life is something I have wanted to do ever since a brief holiday there a couple of years ago.

So, Holland has been on my mind a lot lately...

The canals

The crooked houses

Lace curtains in the windows

Clogs

Delft pottery

And of course - windmills!!!

Hello world!

After many months of intending to start a travel blog, I have finally joined the world of blogging!

I'm really looking forward to sharing the beautiful, unusual and inspiring things I come across in everyday life.

Our home is currently filled with the most amazing scent thanks to these lilies.

Thanks to my talented husband for always providing me with beautiful photographs to enjoy & share :-)
