When will this phase end?

This is pretty much what goes on in our house day after day...

Me: Books are for reading, not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Shoes are for wearing outside, not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Crayons are for drawing, not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Socks are to keep your feet warm, not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Sticks are ok to play with at the park, not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Mumma's toes might look pretty but - toes are not for eating.

Oliver: *om nom nom*

Me: Biting hurts Mumma. Ow.

Oliver: *cheeky grin*

Me: OW!

Oliver: *bites harder*

Are you sensing a theme here? At almost 16 months of age, Oliver is STILL obsessed with eating everything. I thought (hoped?) by this point kids were meant to have moved past the stage of putting every single thing in their mouth? Not to mention the biting when he's feeling frustrated... *sigh* This phase will end eventually, yeah? Or will I have a teenager who likes chewing the corners off board books and attempts to eat crayons for breakfast...

  1. We have the EXACT same thing happening over here!! Cruz bit my leg yesterday, HARD. Absolutely everything goes into his mouth. He chews on the side of the table, on the chairs, picks up firewood and chews on it. Hopefully it stops soon!! xo

    1. Ow, Cruz! It really hurts hey. I don't think Ollie quite realises how sharp his little teeth are (until he accidentally bites himself, then it's big tears!). Hope Cruz gets over this stage soon too :)

  2. Haha! This made me laugh out loud. Maybe it's a boy thing? All the boys around this age that I know of seem to be chewers / biters, but hardly any little girls!

I hope, for Mama's sake, that it passes soon!

    1. You know what, I reckon it could be a boy thing! When I think of all the toddler girls I know, I don't see them chomping on every single thing in sight lol

  4. Dont worry little girls do it too. Ava is 1 very soon and absolutely everything goes into her mouth she hardly every wears shoes because she gets them off everytime and starts eating them bits of garden EVERYTHING goes in her mouth. Just some kids explore that way i guess definately not just little boys though. Goodluck with it all.

    1. That was Ollie too - he always used to get his shoes off! Thankfully now he's only interested in eating them when they are at the front door.
