How many weeks? 18 weeks
Baby's size & weight? 5.5 inches / 7 ounces (14 cm / 198 grams)
Pink or blue? It's a BOY!!!
Weight gain? Not much at all in the last 2 weeks. I put on so much so quickly early on, I'm feeling a little more evened out now. Total is 6.1kg / 13 1/2 lbs.
Symptoms? The pregnancy insomnia has begun - only here and there thankfully, but earlier this week I had a horrible night where I had the grand total of about 4 hours sleep. Despite being utterly exhausted. Not fun! I'm still tired most of the time, but honestly I just don't know if that will change - being pregnant and running around after a 2 year old is tiring just to think about.
Movement? He's a kicker!!!! Mostly at night when I am finally resting - Mitch even felt the kicks from the outside for the first time last weekend :-)
The best thing? Hearing Oliver talk about the baby. Some of my favourites: (when pointing to my belly button) 'baby come out this little tunnel' and (when I'm talking to him about how he will have to share things with his brother) 'Walley share Mummy with baby'.
The most difficult thing? Thinking the morning sickness was done and dusted after a vomit free week, only to have it return at 17 weeks :-( It does seem to be more sporadic now, definitely not every day but boy I would like for the nausea to be gone completely!
Appointments? We have the 19 week ultrasound next Wednesday :-)
Looking forward to? Decorating the nursery! I've been hesitant to buy/make anything big for the baby's room just yet - because we found out we're having a boy so early on, I'm waiting until after the big scan when we have the gender re-confirmed but I am so excited about getting started! I have a friend lined up to help me paint Oliver's cot & change table (grey?). I had been thinking of doing a woodland theme but now I'm wanting to merge that in with a Californian bear theme. I'm seeing navy, grey, bursts of bright colour (maybe green) with bears, deer, squirrels, raccoons etc. American animals but not owls!!! I bought this fun bear cushion off Brickyard Buffalo yesterday to put on the futon (which will stay in the nursery) but that's it at this stage.
Bump comparison? 18 weeks on the left with Oliver vs 18 weeks on the right with our little Californian bear. I'm not feeling quite as ridiculously large as I was, I think things are finally starting to even out.
