Today, you are FOUR. Oh big boy, how you've matured in the last year! You're still little but seeming so big at the same time. You love to help me and always want to know what the plan is for the day (and the next day and the day after that). You're a quiet kid, much like your mama; you take a while to warm up to new situations and have a hard time speaking up in circle time, but one on one you don't stop talking. You love playing with your friends and have some really special friendships formed already. I was so nervous sending you off to preschool last year but you love going and learning new things. Your favourite thing to do at school or kids church is craft time. You love coloring and doing projects, you call them 'craftjects' and spend a fair amount of time every single day sitting at your little green table drawing or creating things out of random objects.

You can write your name and recognise your numbers, do some basic addition/subtraction and have a few sight words. You love going to the library and 'buying' new books to read each week. You also love being a big brother - you boys fight and annoy each other but you love nothing more than playing with your 'baby babe' Austin and sometimes get genuinely upset if he walks away to go play in another room. Despite your shyness, you are a whirlwind at home and love to run around the house madly pretending to be a Ninja Turtle.

In a week you'll be starting pre-K and somehow, this very day next year you will be starting kindergarten. Kindergarten! The days are long but the years sure are short. I remember the day you came into our life so clearly. You're our quiet but fierce little guy who just loves life so much. You bring us so much joy Oliver John... Happy Birthday big boy!

And a flashback to last years post - Mr Oliver at age 3...
