One month {Anneke Claire}

I thought time flew by with the boys, but by baby number 3 - it's ridiculous just how quickly the first month has gone! In between constant nappy changes, breastfeeding, burping, more nappy changes, lots of photo taking (apologies for baby spam, she's just too cute!) and trying to keep the boys entertained, we blinked and our precious baby girl turned 1 month old on the 29th.

I kept a monthly journal for Austin's first year in this space, and I'm determined to keep it up for Miss Anneke also... We shall see how that goes. Quiet time is a rarity nowadays!

At one month old, Anneke...

Stats...
She wears size 1 nappies (and has done from birth) and 3-6 month clothing. She wore newborn for barely a week and really, that was even pushing it. At 3.5 weeks old she weighed 10lbs 6oz (compared to a birthweight of 8lbs 8.9oz) and I'm not sure on length although she certainly looks long and is busting out of 3 month pjs.

Milestones...
I've got to admit,  I've been terrible at remembering to put her down for tummy time but she does seem to have a strong little neck already. She's been smiling since she was 3 weeks old; real social smiles mostly at her Dadda. It's the sweetest thing and I think we've got another smiley baby on our hands! No real milestones to report other than WE SURVIVED A MONTH WITH THREE KIDS UNDER FIVE!

Sleeping...
Night sleeps are not too bad - she generally has her last feed sometime between 8-10pm, then wakes around 1/2am and again at 5/6am. She's gone a couple of nights where she's only woken once at 3am!

Day sleep is all over the place, but she's only a month old. She likes to have really (really) long awake periods, 3-4 hours at a time. Yesterday in particular was a rough day, she was awake from 10am-4pm and just would not keep her eyes shut no matter what we tried. Thank goodness Mitch was home is all I can say!

Eating...
Every 2-3 hours. We've had a few days here and there where she's cluster fed alllllllll day, but otherwise it's just every couple of hours. I feed on demand, we're on no real schedule yet. I have started pumping to build up a freezer stash in the last week and she's taken a bottle a couple of times (unwillingly at first, but I'm determined to persevere as I know how much easier it is having a baby that will take a bottle when needs be vs one that never would!). She's been an easy baby to breastfeed from the start, she latched on right after she was born and we haven't looked back. She does tend to guzzle though and often needs (sometimes multiple) mid feed burping.

Best moment...
Easy - the moment we met. There is no feeling in the world like the moment they leave your body and join the world. When you finally get to see what they look like. That indescribable rush and high of giving birth drug free; feeling like superwoman. Sometimes I still can't believe I have a daughter. Our two beautiful boys and now a precious baby girl, I couldn't ask for more.

Worst moment...
When she had to leave my arms only hours old to go to the NICU. Thankfully Mitch could go with her but it felt really, really odd being in the delivery room by myself after having a baby. The quiet was eerie and I missed my girl - but thankfully it wasn't long before we were together again.

Loves...
Bathtime. She instantly relaxes the moment she gets in the water and gives me a sweet little smile. Mama milk. Being held. Napping on Dadda on the couch every evening. Walks in the stroller.

Dislikes...
When the car stops at red lights. Mama going out. Mama eating chocolate (poor gassy baby girl!).

Happy one month birthday sweet girl! Anneke, you are the perfect addition to our family and I just couldn't imagine life without your presence. Your Dadda, big brothers and I have all been smitten with you from the moment we met. You complete our little family and I'm so excited to watch you grow... although please, can time slow down just a little! We love you, our little Anneke Claire.
