Coit Tower, San Francisco

I've been on a mission lately to work through our California bucket list. I've quite literally had a Google doc going since we moved here where I note down interesting places I hear of and we've crossed quite a few off over the years, although I still find myself adding to it. We've been to Tahoe a couple of times a year, road tripped along the Northern CA coast and redwoods, explored Bodie and Mammoth Lakes, Disneyland twice (soon to be three times), Legoland, San Diego, Napa, Sonoma, Palm Springs, Yosemite, Big Sur, most of the beaches between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay, Santa Barbara, Pinecrest Lake, Mendocino... The list goes on. We like to get out :)

One thing we don't do often enough however is go up into the city. After taking a visit to Balmy Alley a couple of weekends ago, we headed back to the bay to climb the stairs of Telegraph Hill - all the way from Levis Plaza up to Coit Tower. Little Mr Austin (aka Mr Independent - "me do it!") walked the entire way without a single complaint and Ollie practically ran; I think it's safe to say the boys enjoyed their outing. My favourite part was seeing the crazy zigzag of steep Lombard Street from a distance (seen in the second last photo), we've driven down it a bunch of times with visitors and even walked up it once, but I've never seen it from this angle. We didn't go up Coit Tower as the line was insanely long, but I feel like it's another spot I can happily cross off our Cali bucket list now :)

So Coit Tower - been there, done that now. What's next?

Life lately - summer happenings

Can someone please tell me how July is halfway over? Life lately - random summer happenings with my crew...

... big brother snuggles

... unexpected naps

... a pretty fun souvenir for Anneke's baby book

... morning photos with my girl

... sleepy sweetness

... ring sling naps at big brothers swimming lessons

... Anneke smiles :-)

... Daddy snuggles

... and a whole lotta crazy. With 2 boys and a baby girl, there's a lot of crazy in our house - the only thing to do is roll with it, silly faces and all :-)

Balmy Alley, San Francisco

This past weekend we headed up into the city to spend an afternoon sightseeing. We might live only an hour from San Francisco but we really don't get up there often enough. Balmy Alley is a random little place in the Mission District that had been on my Cali bucket list since we moved here - it just took us 4 years to actually make it there :) It was a slow walk down the street as the boys wanted their photo taken in front of almost every mural - but we happily obliged ;)
